WHAT IS PLEASURE MEDICINE?

Pleasure Medicine is a new kind of ecstatic dance for gay men. It’s about sensuality, connection and joy, created specifically for gay, bi, queer and trans men in London who want something different from the usual scene.

This is for every body type, background and story. It's a space where gay men can connect away from bars, clubs, apps and substances using embodied movement, sensuality and conscious dance instead.

A conscious dance is substance-free, sensitive and soulful space where men connect through music and a shared desire for more pleasure.

No dance experience is needed. Just a willingness to explore joy, vulnerability, intimacy and celebratory sensuality together.

Creator Gary Albert developed Pleasure Medicine after 8 years practicing embodied dance forms like 5Rhythms, Movement Medicine and Ecstatic Dance as his own spiritual practice.

This is his response to what he saw missing in the gay community — a way to connect that celebrates the body and pleasure without relying on alcohol, drugs or hookup culture.

It's about coming together as whole human beings, moving our bodies freely and experiencing true connection without numbing, masks or performance.

The focus is on authentic expression, mutual respect and care — rediscovering what it means to be with other gay men in ways that honours the whole of us.

If you're ready to explore connection beyond the typical options, Pleasure Medicine offers a radically different approach to gay community and connection.

WHO IS IT FOR?

Pleasure Medicine is a gay Ecstatic Dance and Conscious Dance in London. It’s for all bodies — the beautiful and multifaceted variety of us.

It is a revolutionary and radical space for men who are:

  • Feeling disconnected from the gay scene and the world of apps and surface-level interactions

  • Tired of the endless swiping, ghosting and performative masculinity

  • Craving something deeper, more authentic and aligned with who you really are.

  • Ready to move on from trauma, shame and past wounds. Whether it's internalised homophobia or years of feeling like you're "too much" or "not enough" — this is a space of full acceptance and gentle healing.

  • Longing for genuine sensuality and intimacy. You want to be seen, held and accepted among other gay men without the pressure of sexual performance or expectation. Just pure, embodied human connection and fun!

  • Curious about embodiment, somatic healing and free uninhibited movement through Ecstatic Dance. You’re interested in exploring how movement, dance and conscious touch can unlock joy, delight and pleasure in your body…

It was amazing to be sensual and intimate with other men without it being overtly sexual. Truly liberating and freeing

    25.4.25

I never thought I’d need to learn how to have sex again. Especially at 40 years old! I’d never thought of sex as being a problem. Quite the opposite actually; it was my solution to everything. My quick fix. My escape. My validation. And ultimately, it turns out, my addiction.

I still remember my first sober dance. The anxiety and awkwardness I felt as I walked into the studio space without the liquid courage I’d come to rely on. The vulnerability of having nowhere to hide. No drink in hand, no darkened club corners, no chemical buffer between me and my feelings.

There’s this peculiar phenomenon in queer spaces that I’ve come to call ‘the gay cold shoulder’ – that icy, razor-sharp, side-eye moment where we look at another gay man and silently say “who does she think she is?!” It’s a defence mechanism so refined, it could win olympic gold in psychological gymnastics.
